Johnny is the founder and clinic director of Youthwise Counselling & Mental Health. He has worked with children, teens, and families for over 12 years in various settings including government child and youth mental health, community mental health, non-profit organizations, and faith based-communities. Johnny loves using his creativity, knowledge about youth culture, and clinical skills to help engage children and youth in counselling.
He is a professionally registered clinical counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCC #12722).
Johnny has received specialized training in the following areas:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)- Johnny is a certified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist specialized in working with children and teenagers.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for adolescents (DBT)- Skills group facilitator and individual DBT therapist.
Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
Attachment-based parenting interventions

Family counselling
Early Psychosis Intervention
Johnny obtained his master’s degree in counselling psychology and bachelor’s degree in psychology both at the University of British Columbia. He has also conducted research at UBC on various topics relating to mental health.
Johnny enjoys exploring new places, playing the guitar and drums, road cycling, playing board games, and doing the occasional magic trick.
