After working with children and youth for many years, Johnny identified that there is a growing need to provide more mental health training to those who work or volunteer with kids or teens in the community. This includes people like youth leaders, day program volunteers, camp leaders, coaches, teachers, ministry leaders, parents, and more. Not many are properly equipped to know what to do when a child or youth shares with them that he or she is struggling with depression, cutting, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, or other mental health problems. This is of serious concern because these people are also often the first ones that kids or teens would feel safe enough to share with them about their struggles.
The response
In light of this need, Johnny has made it a central part of Youthwise’s mission to train and equip communities so that they can better help children and youth who are experiencing mental health challenges. We aim to achieve this by making ourselves an extremely accessible community resource specializing in child and youth mental health and to provide training that is specially tailored to meet your community’s specific needs.
